NAWJ Military and Veterans Committee Discusses Recent Survey on Food Insecurity

The NAWJ Military and Veterans Committee recently met and, as part of their discussion, highlighted a lack of publicity of food insecurity issues for military families.  A recent study (link) showed that nearly ¼ of military families face these issues.  The Department of Defense has started, through an act of congress, a Basic Needs Allowance for military service members with dependents whose household income falls below 130% of the federal poverty level for their family size.  Learn more about this topic here- https://www.military.com/daily-news/2023/04/06/new-cash-benefit-will-expand-more-military-families-summer-pentagon-says.html?ESRC=eb_230407.nl
