Meet NAWJ Intern Maia Czarnecki

maia-czarnecki.pngMaia Czarnecki is a pre-law junior at Vanderbilt University in Nashville, TN, where she is studying Public Policy, Spanish, and Human & Organizational Development. At present, her career interests lie in comparative social policy and international law. During summer 2021, Maia interned for U.S. Senator Rob Portman in her home state of Ohio, where she communicated with constituents over the phone, authored a policy memo on contemporary U.S.-Cuba relations, and connected individuals with relevant caseworkers. Additionally, Maia serves as the Program Coordinator for Vanderbilt’s chapter of The Women’s Network, as well as the Recruitment Co-Chair for her pre-law chapter of Phi Alpha Delta Law Fraternity, International. Outside of school, Maia advocates for both Spanish-speaking communities and female youth in Nashville through her work as an adult ESL teacher and mentor for middle school girls. For the 2022 spring semester, she will be continuing her studies abroad in Santiago, Chile.
