JAMS Foundation Grant Update in Support of Refugee Afghan Women Judges

NAWJ continues its support of the Afghan Women Judges through Mentor Pods established to provide individual attention to the Afghan women and their families. Recently, NAWJ procured a grant of $5,000 for each of the 29 Afghan judges who requested financial assistance ($145,000 total).   Click here to read the full JAMS press release.

NAWJ members Commissioner Doreen Boxer and Judge Nadia Keilani host bi monthly zoom meetings with the Afghan judges and their NAWJ mentors.  In this way, they connect with one another and their mentors. Their English skills are improving and they are learning how to adapt to their new circumstances. They each expressed gratitude for the assistance from the JAMS Foundation and the unwavering support of the NAWJ mentors.
